Golden Square Secondary College

Golden Square High School in Australia was established in temporary accommodation at Camp Hill Primary School in 1960. It moved to its current site in 1962, providing for years 7-12. In 1978 it became a 7-10 school and was one of the original feeder schools to Bendigo Senior High School. In 1986 a Hearing Impaired Unit was established and in 1990 it underwent a name change to become Golden Square Secondary College. The school's name is currently pending. A temporary name has been set as "Bendigo South East Secondary College- Golden Square Campus".
The college caters for students from a range of backgrounds, drawn from around thirty rural and urban primary schools.
Former students of the school include Bendigo West MP Bob Cameron, former Richmond footballer Wayne Campbell, First Lady of East Timor Kirsty Sword Gusmão James Simpson (Brigadier Australian Armed Forces)and ''The Age'' journalist Adrian Lowe, Andrew Curnow current Aglican Bishop of Bendigo, Kaye Thurlow former Water Ski champion, Pete Miller inventor of the "Bed Beer".
== Merger and closure ==
As part of the Bendigo Education Plan, Golden Square Secondary College will merge with Flora Hill Secondary College and Kangaroo Flat Secondary College, with new schools to be built on the existing Kangaroo Flat and Flora Hill sites. This and the redevelopment of Bendigo's other two 7-10 colleges is expected to be complete by 2010. ()
